Architectural Engineering brings spatial, functional, social design and technical possibilities together. Subjects like product design, material research, building physics, structural mechanics, computation and production techniques all play a major part in architecture. In fact, architecture and engineering are irreversibly connected with each other. Research in the field of technology leads to all kinds of improvements in architecture. This also works the other way around, since improvements in architecture help inspire research and innovation.
This annual journal gives the faculty insight into the master programme and shows recent work made by students of the Architectural Engineering studio.

A free and open-access online book series exploring cultural heritage, creative practices and the city. The book series is jointly edited by the Department of Architecture at the University of Bologna and the Chair of History of Architecture and Urbanism at the Technical University, Delft.
Cultural heritage is considered as a set of practices able to produce economic and social changes within cities rather than a static repository of listed objects to be preserved. Through a series of call for papers and thematic sections, the journal provides a space of reflection on the ideas, the technologies, the actors and the practices that continuously produce and re-negotiate cultural heritage as a common good - a space for democracy, participation and citizenship.

DASH | Delft Architectural Studies on Housing
DASH (Delft Architectural Studies on Housing) is a thematic journal that is wholly devoted to residential design. Inquiry into historical and contemporary projects and conditions is the central focus of DASH. New types of housing but also existing models and changing trends will be thoroughly charted and examined. The target is the future: with thought-provoking analyses, DASH aims to give new impetus to innovative housing design.
Print ISSN 1877-7007DR_SoM | Design Research, Series on Method
Through a series of research seminars and workshops, the DR_SoM project sequentially focusses on particularities and common ground within kindred approaches in architectural design research, including design as creative practice to generate and share new insights through making, through reflective practice, through emanating theoretical concepts, through scenario writing, through action research, and to innovate through developing new prototypes, new models and new typologies.
DR_SoM is an initiative within ARENA, an international network of European scholars from leading universities actively engaged in architectural research, and design research in particular.

Inaugural speeches have long been unique moments in the careers of academics in many countries: they offer time to pause, to reflect, and to envision new approaches. Planners, and architects in particular, have used such speeches to tie together insights into design work and education and to offer a programmatic view on their own role in the academic community.
This series presents inaugural lectures – translated into English and contextualized with scholarly introductions – to unlock information for comparative research and set the stage for new investigations. For example, scholars can use these works to explore educational activities in the built environment or to study the dissemination of planning and design ideas.

OverHolland – Architectural studies for Dutch cities is a series published by the Department of Architecture at the Delft University of Technology. The field of architectural research covered by the series includes both typological and morphological urban studies and the question of architectural interventions in the context of Dutch cities.
The theoretical focus in OverHolland will be on possible links between urban analysis and architectural design. The research conducted over recent decades has yielded a range of conflicting views and insights on the subject, raising all kinds of questions that will be highlighted and examined in-depth in OverHolland.

...Print ISSN 1875-0192Online ISSN 1879-8217Rondeltappe
The Rondeltappe series includes five books written by members of the section Heritage and Architecture of the Delft University of Technology. The publication is supported by the Rondeltappe Bernoster Kemmers Foundation. The books are meant for MSc education, but may be of interest for architects in general. The subjects dealt with are related to the field of interest of the three chairs of the section and focus on Heritage, approached from the perspective of Design, Cultural value and Technology. Challenges for conservation, service life and adaptive re-use of heritage buildings are handled with, together with the need for adaptation to a changing society.
Reviews of Sustainability and Resilience of the Built Environment for Education, Research and Design
Reviews of Sustainability and Resilience of the Built Environment for Education, Research and Design contributes to the comprehensive understanding of the two approaches and their interrelations in the built environment by retrospectively investigating their development, addressing current issues, and speculating on possible futures. The series represents one of the results of the Erasmus+ project, Creating the Network of Knowledge Labs for Sustainable and Resilient Environments – KLABS, dedicated to establishing a comprehensive educational platform within the second cycle of higher education across the Western Balkan Region.
Studies in International Planning History
The Studies in International Planning History series brings back to print influential texts from around the world about the study and practice of city and regional planning. The series was initiated by editor Helen Meller and started at publisher Routledge, now continuing by Carola Hein at TU Delft Open. The aim of the series is to make material that is now difficult or impossible to obtain more widely available for the study of the internationalisation of planning ideas and local responses. Each book is a facsimile of the original work, (including an English translation if necessary) with an introductory essay written by an expert in the field putting the text into its contemporary and current context.

The series Sustainable Urban Areas contains studies about the built environment, partly carried out within the multidisciplinary TU Delft Centre for Sustainable Urban Areas. These studies, about amongst others sustainable building and renovation, but also about social consequences of urban restructuring, offer initiations to integrated solutions for social issues of today and tomorrow.
